Vintage Harry Bertoia for Knoll Bird Lounge Chair with Purple Fabric Upholstery
An iconic "Bird Chair" by Harry Bertoia for Knoll. The high back design is a modern statement but also practical by providing additional comfort when lounging. Per Knoll, "The Bird Chair is an astounding study in space, form, and function by one of the master sculptors of the last century. Like Saarinen and Mies, Bertoia found sublime grace in an industrial material, elevating it beyond its normal utility into a work of art. Harry Bertoia's wire chairs are among the most recognized achievements of mid-century modern design and a proud part of the Knoll heritage." This chair is in fair vintage condition. The fabric upholstery is not original, and is in pretty rough condition. Additionally, the 3 of the 4 original black rubber pucks are in damaged condition. All that being said, the metal frame is in good condition for its age. This chair measures 38 inches tall, 38 inches wide, and 30 inches deep.
