Vintage 1978 William Andrus for Steelcase Soft Seating White Square Coffee Table
A vintage 1978 "Soft Seating" coffee table by William Andrus for Steelcase. This is a gorgeous example of an iconic space age Steelcase furniture design. The "Soft Seating" set was designed in the early 1970s and is a prime example of the space age design language of the time. This table features a white fiberglass body design with soft curving corners, a mirrored glass inset tabletop, and a round, clear lucite base. This design set was made to be the star of a space, a true conversation starter in the 1970s, and especially now. This particular table was produced by Steelcase in 1978 as noted in the original tagging on other pieces in the set. Even more fun, the full set can be seen in an original 1973 Steelcase Office Graphic lookbook, showcasing their Tustin, California Western Division Headquarters. This table is in good vintage condition overall, and has been recently professionally cleaned. The table has some scuffs and scratches to the body, common with used vintage furniture, and some deterioration to the mirrored finish. The lucite base is fully intact and not cracked.
