Vintage 1978 William Andrus for Steelcase Brown Leather Soft Seating Armchair

A vintage 1978  "Soft Seating" armchair by William Andrus for Steelcase. This is a gorgeous example of an iconic space age Steelcase furniture design. The "Soft Seating" set was designed in the early 1970s and is a prime example of the space age design language of the time. This armchair features a white fiberglass body design with soft curving corners, a supple and soft brown leather upholstery, and a round, clear lucite base. This design set was made to be the star of a space, a true conversation starter in the 1970s, and especially now. This particular armchair was produced by Steelcase in 1978 as noted in the original tagging pictured. Even more fun, the full set can be seen in an original 1973 Steelcase Office Graphic lookbook, showcasing their Tustin, California Western Division Headquarters. This armchair features brown design notes in the rich leather upholstery. This chair is in good vintage condition overall, and has been recently professionally cleaned. The chair has some scuffs and scratches to the body, common with used vintage furniture. The lucite base is fully intact and not cracked.
