A stoneware vase by celebrated ceramic artist Toshiko Takaezu, featuring her signature organic form and expressive earth-toned glaze. Signed on the underside. The vessel is finished in layered ivory, cream, and rich brown glazes that cascade naturally across the surface, highlighting the subtle contours of the hand-formed body. Characterized by Takaezu's restrained aesthetic and deep appreciation for the traditions of Japanese pottery, the work balances simplicity with remarkable depth and texture. This vase exemplifies the artist's influential contribution to the American Studio Craft movement and modern ceramic art.

Toshiko Takaezu (1922–2011) was one of the most influential American ceramic artists of the twentieth century and a leading figure in the Studio Craft movement. A graduate and longtime faculty member of Cranbrook Academy of Art, Takaezu is celebrated for elevating ceramics into the realm of fine art through her sculptural vessel forms and expressive glazes. She received the National Living Treasure Award from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and the Gold Medal in Craft from the American Craft Council. Her work is held in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and numerous other major museums worldwide.

Items are available for pickup at our Keego Harbor, Michigan location.We ship world-wide and quote through USPS, FedEx, UPS, DHL, GPX, and with multiple domestic and international freight shipping companies to get you the best price on delivery, and we offer free pick-up for anyone who wants to handle their own delivery.

In most cases parcels are shipped out in 1-3 days and delivered in 3-5 days. Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 1-10 weeks depending on location. We have freight shipments delivered to the East Coast every 1-2 weeks, and to the West Coast every 3- 5 weeks. All delivery dates provided by us are estimates, and all freight deliveries are fulfilled by third party companies. The shipping company we book your delivery with will contact you directly to schedule delivery.

While damage in transit is rare, if you receive a damaged item, please retain all packing materials and notify us as soon as possible. We would be happy to facilitate an insurance claim to reimburse you for the cost of repair; or to accept a return for a full refund.
