Richard Kozlow (1926–2008) was a Detroit-born American painter whose distinctive approach to atmospheric landscape painting earned him an international following. Early in his career, his work received favorable recognition from The New York Times, and he was awarded prestigious Museum Purchase Prizes from the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Butler Institute of American Art. Beginning in the 1960s, Kozlow lived and painted extensively throughout Mexico, Spain, England, Costa Rica, and Portugal, with successful exhibitions following his international travels. His work has been exhibited throughout the United States and abroad and is represented in numerous public and private collections. Celebrated for his innovative use of texture and evocative, impressionistic landscapes, Kozlow developed a highly recognizable style that bridged modern abstraction and representational painting.
