An original color lithograph on paper titled “L’Attesa (The Wait)” by Marino Marini. Hand signed in pencil on the lower right with an annotation of 35/60 on the lower left. Documented in the artist’s catalogue raisonné by Guastalla, plate L.84. The composition features an abstracted horse and rider form structured with strong black linear elements, tonal areas of grey, and muted color The central horse figure reflects Marini’s continued exploration of equestrian themes during the mid-twentieth century.Provenance: From a private estate in Birmingham, MI. Dimensions: 38.75”h x 28.75”w x 1.25”d (framed). Overall very good condition. The sheet appears clean and well preserved. Full condition reports available upon request.Marino Marini (1901–1980) was an Italian sculptor, painter, and printmaker best known for his recurring horse and rider motif. Drawing inspiration from Etruscan art and early Renaissance traditions, he developed a modern interpretation of classical themes that became central to postwar European art. Marini received significant international recognition during his lifetime. In 1952, he was awarded the Grand Prize for Sculpture at the Venice Biennale. Major retrospectives of his work were organized at institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Kunsthaus Zürich. His works are held in major museum collections worldwide, and the Museo Marino Marini in Florence is dedicated to his legacy.
