An intriguing modern lithograph on paper titled “The Patriarch (Oedipus at Colonus)” by Leonard Baskin. Signed on the bottom right with an annotation of 87/160. Baskin was known for his portrait series of various famous artists and intellects. Oedipus at Colonus is the last of the three Theban plays of the Athenian tragedian Sophocles. An example of this print is in the permanent collection in the National Gallery of Art. Dimensions: 36.25”h x 26.25”w x 1.25”d (framed).
Leonard Baskin (1922-2000) was an American sculptor, draughtsman, and graphic artist, as well as founder of the Gehenna Press. Called a Sculptor of Stark Memorials by the New York Times, Baskin is also known for his wood, limestone, bronze, and large-scale woodblock prints, which ranged from naturalistic to fanciful, and were frequently grotesque, featuring bloated figures or humans merging with animals. His monumental bronze sculpture, The Funeral Cortege, graces the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial in Washington, D.C. Baskin's work is held by major museums worldwide, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the British Museum, Detroit Institute of Arts, Metropolitan Museum of Art, MOMA, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Smithsonian American Art Museum, and Whitney Museum of American Art. |

We ship world-wide and quote through USPS, FedEx, UPS, DHL, GPX, and with multiple domestic and international freight shipping companies to get you the best price on delivery, and we offer free pick-up for anyone who wants to handle their own delivery.
In most cases parcels are shipped out in 1-3 days and delivered in 3-5 days. Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 1-10 weeks depending on location. We have freight shipments delivered to the East Coast every 1-2 weeks, and to the West Coast every 3- 5 weeks. All delivery dates provided by us are estimates, and all freight deliveries are fulfilled by third party companies. The shipping company we book your delivery with will contact you directly to schedule delivery.
While damage in transit is rare, if you receive a damaged item, please retain all packing materials and notify us as soon as possible. We would be happy to facilitate an insurance claim to reimburse you for the cost of repair; or to accept a return for a full refund.
