Larry Rivers (1923–2002) was a pioneering American artist whose work helped bridge Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art. Known for blending art historical references with contemporary culture, Rivers challenged traditional boundaries between high art and popular imagery. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in the collections of major institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Widely regarded as a precursor to the Pop Art movement, Rivers remains one of the most influential and innovative figures in postwar American art.
