A Soriana loveseat by Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Cassina. This is a contemporary edition of the iconic Soriana, originally designed in 1969. The was created with a mix of contemporary material influence, as well as the influence of historic design elements. The Soriana was designed to take advantage of new furniture making techniques, such as the use of heavy polyurethane foam as both a structural and comforting element of the piece. They used a mixture of thick foam and an exposed stainless steel frame to create the timeless shape of the sofa. In 1970, the Soriana even won the Compasso d’Oro for its genuinely innovative design in furniture. This loveseat being offered is a contemporary edition by Cassina, which has been reupholstered with a gray fabric upholstery. This sofa is in good condition overall, but the quality of upholstery is not quite as well done as original production. This sofa measures 28 inches tall, 70 inches long, and 38 inches deep.
