Honoring the country that Peter Max loves and immigrated to as a teenager; Peter Max first painted Lady Liberty in 1976 to celebrate America's Bicentennial. His love affair with Lady Liberty has continued in the decades since; as he has continued to paint her in different forms and for many events and commissions.
