Description
A modern lithograph in color on paper titled “Ost-West Transit Series I” by German artist Georg Karl Pfahler. Hand signed in pencil and annotated 45/110 on the verso. Published in 1971. In the early 1960s, Pfahler was the sole representative of “Hard-Edge Painting” in Europe while simultaneously his contemporaries in America (Frank Stella, Ellsworth Kelly, and Kenneth Noland) were also exploring this painting style. The compositions are an investigation of the relationship between color, shape and space which is represented in this composition.
Provenance: London Arts Group, Detroit. Dimensions: 27.5”h x 27.5”w (unframed). In very good vintage condition. Full condition reports are available upon request.
Georg Karl Pfahler (1926-2002) was a German painter, printmaker and sculptor, and one of the leading proponents of post-war art in Germany. Since 1965 realized numerous architectural projects, which have been a substantial contribution towards the development to art in architecture and public spaces in post-war Germany. Amongst Thomas Lenk, Heinz Mack and Günther Uecker, Pfahler was chosen to provide the German pavilion to the Venice Biennale in 1970 and in 1981 he was chosen to represent German art at the Sao Paulo Biennale. Today Pfahler is represented in several important private and public collections around the world.

We have freight shipments delivered to the East Coast every 1-2 weeks, and to the West Coast every 3- 5 weeks. All delivery dates provided by us are estimates, and all freight deliveries are fulfilled by third party companies. The shipping company we book your delivery with will contact you directly to schedule delivery.
While damage in transit is rare, if you receive a damaged item, please retain all packing materials and notify us as soon as possible. We would be happy to facilitate an insurance claim to reimburse you for the cost of repair; or to accept a return for a full refund.
