Description

Dominic Pangborn's "Nudes in Blue: A Studio Inspiration" is a captivating acrylic painting that explores the human form through abstract figures set against a deep blue backdrop. Hand signed in the bottom right-hand corner. This work artfully plays with negative space and silhouette, using shades of blue and contrasting pinks to suggest the curvature and interplay of two figures. This painting was the main artwork in Pangborn’s studio for almost 4 decades. When you Google “Dominic Pangborn” and see his Wikipedia profile picture, this painting is placed directly behind him. It is also featured in the “Pangborn” book with the artist standing in front of it. This composition was an inspiration for Pangborn because in his words, “There is a certain mystery and surreal quality. You see multiple figures that could be female or male. The painting makes you want to question. It creates a dialogue. And with that, the viewer becomes an extension of the figures and part of the artwork.” A truly unique painting that creates a bold and powerful statement in a modern or contemporary space. From the personal collection of Dominic Pangborn. Dimensions: 80"h x 60"w x 1.5"d (framed). In very good condition.
