Description
A postmodern wall sculpture titled "Structuralist Relief No. 151 (1978)" by David Barr. Hand signed, titled, and dated on verso. From a private collection. Acquired from Donald Morris Gallery Inc., Birmingham, Michigan; original gallery tag on verso. Dimensions: 40"h x 40"w x 6.25"d. In very good vintage condition.
Composed of layered wood panels painted in ochres, tans, and muted earth tones, the work creates a dynamic interplay of depth, shadow, and spatial tension. Small green and brown elements punctuate the composition, adding rhythm and visual movement across the surface. Barr, best known for his large-scale environmental sculptures and conceptual projects, often explored mathematical order and architectural systems within his art. This relief highlights his mastery of structure, proportion, and minimalist form, offering a striking example of late 20th-century postmodern wall sculpture.
