A surreal, abstract, folk-art inspired modern lithograph on wove paper by British-Scottish artist Alan Davie. Hand signed in pencil on the bottom right, dated 1972, and annotated XX on the bottom left. Published by Kunstvereins Braunschweig, Germany. In the art of Alan Davie mysterious symbols began to appear, found in sources as varied as American Indian pottery, maps, ancient rock-carvings and Aboriginal art. Davie represented Britain at the São Paulo Bienal in 1963, and retrospectives of his work were held at the Barbican Centre in 1993 and Tate St Ives in 2003.
