A contemporary acrylic painting on canvas with glass jewels titled "Hot Stars" by American artist John Torreano. Signed and titled on verso. Painted in 1981. An abstract composition in cool blues with an illusion of celestial sky patterns. He is best known for utilizing faceted gems in a variety of mediums and methods in order to create "movement oriented perception" in his works. Torreano grew up in a large Catholic family and this has influenced his artistic practice; he always uses of jewels serving as a metaphor for vigil lights. Other religious influences appear in his pieces as well while in recent years his paintings have used gems to create space-like constellations. Throughout his career, Torreano has investigated the properties of real and fake gemstones in the differing contexts of lighting, placement and materials. Artist Richard Artschwager described Torreano's works as "paintings that stand still and make you move." From a private collection. John Torreano (1941- ) is an American artist from Michigan. Torreano's works have been exhibited in several museums and institutions, amog all: Whitney Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington DC, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indianapolis and many others. His series of paintings titled "TV Bulge" were featured in the 1969 Whitney Biennial.

In most cases parcels are shipped out in 1-3 days and delivered in 3-5 days. Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 1-10 weeks depending on location. We have freight shipments delivered to the East Coast every 1-2 weeks, and to the West Coast every 3- 5 weeks. All delivery dates provided by us are estimates, and all freight deliveries are fulfilled by third party companies. The shipping company we book your delivery with will contact you directly to schedule delivery.
While damage in transit is rare, if you receive a damaged item, please retain all packing materials and notify us as soon as possible. We would be happy to facilitate an insurance claim to reimburse you for the cost of repair; or to accept a return for a full refund.
