A contemporary abstract expressionist oil painting on paper by Detroit artist Brenda Goodman. Hand signed in pencil and dated 1989 on the bottom right corner. This was created for fellow Detroit artist, Betty Woodward-Bosley. A expressive composition with energetic shapes and lines. Cool blue tones with muddied earth tones make parallels to a landscape yet specifics are unidentifiable. From a private collection. Dimensions: 9"h x 10"w x 1"d (framed). In very good condition.
Brenda Goodman (1943) was a member of the Cass Corridor Movement, the group of artists from Detroit's Cass Corridor neighborhood whose work responded to the post-industrial decline sweeping the country. It has been noted that "as one of the few women associated with the movement, Goodman’s work is especially notable." She received her BFA from the College for Creative Studies, from which she also received an honorary doctorate in 2017. Goodman’s career began as a member of the Cass Corridor Movement in the 1960s, before moving to New York in 1976. In 2015, a 50-year retrospective of her work was presented at the Center for Creative Studies and Paul Kotula Projects, Michigan. That same year, her work was included in the American Academy of Arts and Letters annual invitational where she received the Award in Art. Her work is included in the collections of the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, PA; the Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit, MI; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, IL; and The Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY, among others.

In most cases parcels are shipped out in 1-3 days and delivered in 3-5 days. Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 1-10 weeks depending on location. We have freight shipments delivered to the East Coast every 1-2 weeks, and to the West Coast every 3- 5 weeks. All delivery dates provided by us are estimates, and all freight deliveries are fulfilled by third party companies. The shipping company we book your delivery with will contact you directly to schedule delivery.
While damage in transit is rare, if you receive a damaged item, please retain all packing materials and notify us as soon as possible. We would be happy to facilitate an insurance claim to reimburse you for the cost of repair; or to accept a return for a full refund.
