A mid-century modern figurative charcoal and wash drawing on paper titled "Dreaming" by Russian-American artist Anton Refregier. Hand signed on the lower right. A monochromatic color palette with subtle yellow highlights. The composition depicts a contemplative young woman holding a flower, drawn with graceful contour lines and expressive sensitivity. This work exemplifies Refregier's distinctive modernist style-combining social realism with poetic intimacy. From a private collection; acquired from Garelick's Gallery, Detroit, c. 1950s (original gallery tag on verso). Dimensions: 32.5"h x 26"w x 1.5"d (framed). In very good condition. Anton Refregier (1905-1979) was a prominent Russian-born American painter and muralist celebrated for his contributions to Social Realism and public art in the mid-20th century. Best known for his monumental mural cycle History of San Francisco (1940-1948) at the Rincon Annex Post Office, a landmark WPA commission, Refregier's work blended modernist abstraction with humanist themes. He exhibited widely during his career, including at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Corcoran Gallery, and his paintings and murals are held in major public collections such as the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Recognized for his technical mastery and social vision, Refregier remains an influential figure in American mural and modernist art history.

In most cases parcels are shipped out in 1-3 days and delivered in 3-5 days. Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 1-10 weeks depending on location. We have freight shipments delivered to the East Coast every 1-2 weeks, and to the West Coast every 3- 5 weeks. All delivery dates provided by us are estimates, and all freight deliveries are fulfilled by third party companies. The shipping company we book your delivery with will contact you directly to schedule delivery.
While damage in transit is rare, if you receive a damaged item, please retain all packing materials and notify us as soon as possible. We would be happy to facilitate an insurance claim to reimburse you for the cost of repair; or to accept a return for a full refund.
