Description

Quietly powerful modernist abstraction with a refined, collectible feel. “Morrac” is a vintage serigraph on paper by Richard Kozlow, created in a minimalist style that reads like an abstracted landscape. Clean-edged color fields and carefully balanced negative space give the composition a calm, architectural presence - graphic from across the room, and subtly nuanced up close.

This abstract modernist serigraph on paper titled "Morrac" by Richard Kozlow is hand signed in pencil on the lower right. Titled and annotated 96/100 on the lower left. Published circa 1980s. A minimal composition in abstracted blocks of colors.

This is the kind of statement print that works effortlessly in design-forward interiors: mid-century modern, contemporary, wabi-sabi, or gallery minimal. Unframed and generously sized, it’s ready for a custom frame and mat that can lean crisp and modern (wide white mat, thin black frame) or warmer and more organic (natural oak or walnut).

About the Artist

Richard Kozlow (1926-2008) was an artist who lived in Detroit, Michigan. During his prolific career he painted well over a thousand works. Richard Kozlow's formal training was limited to his abbreviated studies at Cass Technical High School and the College for Creative Studies. His paintings used materials in new ways, delving into the textures of old walls and peeling posters. He won (among others) the Museum Purchase prizes of the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Butler Art Institute.
