This 1941 lithograph by celebrated American caricaturist Albert Hirschfeld captures a vibrant, stylized scene of Harlem life with his signature wit and elegance. Depicting a fashionable Black family out for a stroll - complete with sharp attire, expressive gestures, and a buoyant red balloon - Harlem reflects Hirschfeld's deep engagement with American culture and his admiration for Harlem's dynamic spirit during the early 20th century. Executed in bold colors and fluid lines, the piece embodies both social charm and the theatricality central to Hirschfeld's iconic visual language. From a private collection. Al Hirschfeld (1903-2003) was an American caricaturist best known for his black and white portraits of celebrities and Broadway stars. Permanent collections of Hirschfeld's work can be found at a variety of institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the New York Public Library in New York, Harvard University in Cambridge, and the Harry Ransom Center in Austin, Texas. Hirschfeld was the recipient of two lifetime achievement Tony Awards. On June 21, 2003, the Martin Beck Theatre on Broadway was renamed the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Hirschfeld was also honored with a star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame. In 2002, Al Hirschfeld was awarded the National Medal of Arts. He was an Honorary Member of the Salmagundi Club. In 2012, Hirschfeld was added to the Jewish American Hall of Fame.

In most cases parcels are shipped out in 1-3 days and delivered in 3-5 days. Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 1-10 weeks depending on location. We have freight shipments delivered to the East Coast every 1-2 weeks, and to the West Coast every 3- 5 weeks. All delivery dates provided by us are estimates, and all freight deliveries are fulfilled by third party companies. The shipping company we book your delivery with will contact you directly to schedule delivery.
While damage in transit is rare, if you receive a damaged item, please retain all packing materials and notify us as soon as possible. We would be happy to facilitate an insurance claim to reimburse you for the cost of repair; or to accept a return for a full refund.
