A Rare George Nelson & Associates for Herman Miller roll top Action Office writing desk. The Action Office system was developed by Robert Propst for Herman Miller in 1968 to transform the workplace. Propst felt that today's offices were "a wasteland", and that it "saps vitality, blocks talent, and frustrates accomplishment. It is the daily scene of unfulfilled intentions and failed effort." Robert Propst worked alongside designer Jack Kelley and Herman Miller to create a new, bold, and modern image of what the office can and should be. The Action Office was designed "as a set of components that could be combined and recombined to become whatever an office needed to be over time". Propst and Herman Miller were wildly successful in their endeavor, and quite literally changed the world with their new modern office furniture and design.
An important and iconic design from the Action Office era was the roll top writing desk. This piece features a simple and modern design, with an aluminum frame, plastic and vinyl accents, a walnut wood roll top, and a laminate writing desk. The roll top smoothly transitions between a used and stored state, creating a physical beginning and ending to your work. Opening the top reveals the large, wide laminate desk space, angled ever so slightly toward you for maximum comfort and ergonomics. Towards the front of the desk is a large open filing bin with aluminum organizers. The face of the desk includes 4 walnut faced plastic pull out drawers, with molded plastic organizers built in. Along the underside of the desk is the original George Nelson Herman Miller tag, a circular silver logo tag with the classic Herman Miller Logo. The silver tag stands out on the pop of pastel green paneling. This piece is in very good vintage condition. It has scuffs and scratches to the frame, and the drawers do not pull out perfectly smooth, but overall this piece is very good. It measures 32.75 inches tall, the desk height measures 28.75 inches tall, it is 66 inches long, and 32.5 inches deep.

In most cases parcels are shipped out in 1-3 days and delivered in 3-5 days. Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 1-10 weeks depending on location. We have freight shipments delivered to the East Coast every 1-2 weeks, and to the West Coast every 3- 5 weeks. All delivery dates provided by us are estimates, and all freight deliveries are fulfilled by third party companies. The shipping company we book your delivery with will contact you directly to schedule delivery.
While damage in transit is rare, if you receive a damaged item, please retain all packing materials and notify us as soon as possible. We would be happy to facilitate an insurance claim to reimburse you for the cost of repair; or to accept a return for a full refund.
